Dr. Gianna E. Molla

Dr. Molla — Daughter and namesake of her mother, Saint Gianna Beretta Molla.  Saint Gianna was a devoted wife and mother M.D. who lived a joy-filled life in Italy. During her final pregnancy, she developed a benign tumor in her uterus. She chose to remove only the tumor, fully aware of the risk for her life in continuing the pregnancy. She died a few days after giving birth to Gianna Emanuela.

Mr. Christopher Check

Christopher Check is president of Catholic Answers. A graduate of Rice University, for nearly two decades he served as vice president of The Rockford Institute. Before that he served for seven years as a field artillery officer in the Marine Corps, attaining the grade of captain.  He lectures on Church and military history.  He and his wife, Jacqueline, have four sons. The Checks show and breed Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, famed companions of the Stuart kings, under the kennel name Top Meadow Cavaliers, named for G.K. Chesterton’s Beaconsfield estate.  The following two presentations were delivered at the Shrine in July 2017.

Msgr. Eduardo Chávez Sánchez

Msgr. Eduardo Chávez Sánchez is co-founder and rector of the Institute for Guadalupan Studies, and is a canon of the Basilica of Guadalupe. Born in Mexico City, he studied philosophy and theology in the Institute for Ecclesiastical Studies at Mexico’s Conciliar Seminary. He was ordained on Aug. 15, 1981, in the Archdiocese of Mexico. He holds a diploma in philosophy from the Universidad del Valle de Atemajac in Guadalajara and, a doctorate in Church history from the Pontifical Gregorian University.
