On Sunday, January 3rd, 2021, the Shrine was blanketed in a rare meteorologic effect referred to as “rime ice.” Rime ice forms when clouds of supercooled water droplets freeze onto surfaces. This video was produced capturing this amazing effect with the magnificent beauty of the Shrine.

The Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe is a Catholic Shrine dedicated to the Virgin Mary, honoring her apparition to Saint Juan Diego in Mexico in the year 1531. The Shrine offers daily services, is open to the public, free to visit, and offers a place of personal retreat for tens-of-thousands of souls from around the world each year.
