Can the Gospel be summed up in one word? Joy?
Can the Gospel be summed up in one word? Joy? In the Farewell Discourse in John’s Gospel, Jesus says, “I have told you these things that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete” (John 15:11). This verse comes at the end of John’s Gospel and it could be said this is the culmination of Jesus’s teachings to that point. If so, Jesus’s commandments are inextricably tied to love and to joy.
