Organ Recital
Dr. Horst Buchholz currently serves as Director of Sacred Music at the Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament and the Archdiocese of Detroit.
Previously he held similar positions in St. Louis and Denver. He received his training in organ and sacred music in his native Germany and holds degrees and diplomas in Church Music and Music Theory from the University of Arts in Berlin. He continued his studies in conducting at Indiana University and was awarded the Doctor of Music degree.
Buchholz has been active as organist, conductor, lecturer, and clinician, in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Japan, South Korea, and across Europe. He was professor of Sacred Music at St. John Viannet Seminary in Denver, professor of conducting at the University of Denver, taught at Cleveland State University, Washington University of St. Louis, and is a regular faculty member of the International Chant Academy, and with the Church Music Association of America, where he has served as Vice- President for over 15 years. He has a special interest in American music and the forgotten masterpieces of the 19th and early 20th century.
