This Sunday the Shrine celebrates the Solemnity of Christ the King and the last Sunday before the new liturgical year. At the 1:00 pm Mass His Eminence Raymond Leo Cardinal Burke will be appointing Father Hildebrand Garceau as Rector of the Shrine Church. The Shrine is blessed to be served by four Norbertine priests from St. Michael’s Abbey in Orange County. Father Hildebrand has been with the Shrine since the summer of 2023 serving as a loving father, a gentle shepherd of souls, and a wise teacher of the faithful. Everyday he leads pilgrims to Christ.
Please join in praying for Fr. Hildebrand, that as Rector of the Shrine Church, he may always show the love and compassion of Christ and a genuine care for souls.

What is the role of a Rector?
RECTOR. The head of a religious community of men, or of an educational institution. Popularly applied to designate a pastor, and hence the term rectory. But in canonical language a rector is the priest in charge of a church that is neither parochial nor capitular nor annexed to the house of a religious community for its religious functions. (Etym. Latin rector, ruler, leader, director.) – Fr. John Hardon’s Catholic Dictionary
The Oath of Fidelity that will made by Fr. Hildebrand
With firm faith I also believe everything contained in God’s Word, written or handed down in tradition and proposed by the Church, whether in solemn judgment or in ordinary and universal Magisterium, as divinely revealed and calling for faith.
I also firmly accept and hold each and everything that is proposed by the Church definitively regarding teaching on faith and morals.
Moreover, I adhere with religious submission of will and intellect to the teachings which either the Roman Pontiff or the college of bishops enunciate when they exercise the authentic Magisterium even if they proclaim those teachings in an act that is not definitive.
