Summer Operetta | La Crosse, WI
The Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in La Crosse WI, under the leadership of Scott
Turkington (music director) and Gary Briggle (stage director) announces auditions for
COUNTED AS MINE, an operetta about the Miracle of Our Lady of Guadalupe, libretto by
Mother Mary Frances, P.C.C., and music by Fr. Joseph Roff (written in 1961).
Performance Details
Performances will be held at the Weber Center, La Crosse WI, on June 21 and 22,
2025. Staging rehearsals will begin June 2, with music rehearsals @ May 20 (times TBA). All
roles are salaried. All music and text must be memorized.

Traditional Latin Mass: The Annunciation
Traditional Latin Mass with music of the Messe ‘Cum jubilo’ (1966) by Maruice Duruflé, for baritone soloist (Alan Dunbar), men’s choir and organ (Samuel Backman). With choral motets by Duruflé and Palestrina, we integrate this famous musical setting of the Mass for Our Lady with the Holy Mass.

Mexican Baroque: Music from New Spain
Join us as we celebrate the music of Juan Gutiérrez de Padilla, the Cathedral’s famed music director from 1628 to 1664. His music played a key role in the Cathedral’s consecration in 1649.
