All Souls Day – TLM Requiem Mass
Please join us at the Shrine on Monday, November 3rd at 6:00 pm for a Solemn High Requiem Mass commemorating all the faithful departed. It is one of the seven Spiritual Works of Mercy to pray for the dead, and this is so vital an act of charity, that the Church permits her priests to offer three Masses in one day on All Souls. We invite you to come to the Shrine on Pilgrimage to make this spiritual offering for your departed loved ones.
Requiem Mass
In the Traditional Roman calendar, a Requiem Mass with black vestments can never take place on a Sunday, the day on which we honor the Resurrection, so this year All Souls is transferred to Monday, November 3rd.
In this Jubilee Year, where a Plenary Indulgence can be obtained by visiting the Shrine Church, we encourage the faithful to make a pilgrimage on any day of the year, through the end of the Jubilee on December 28th, to offer up their Holy Communion and their *Pilgrimage Indulgence for the Faithful Departed being purified in Purgatory.
*(Please note that the condition about making a good Confession can be satisfied several days before your pilgrimage, and that confessions at the Shrine are available on weekdays beginning at both 8 a.m. and 11:45 a.m., but they are not generally heard at off-hours, including during this evening Mass on November 3rd.)
