The Shrine’s Most Beautiful Season
The Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe rests on over 100 acres of bluff country in La Crosse, Wisconsin. In October, these acres of trees are ablaze with the deep oranges, reds, and yellows of Wisconsin autumn. Plan your pilgrimage to the Shrine this October to witness the Shrine during one of its most beautiful seasons, and also get the chance to venerate the relics of many great saints.
Pilgrims visiting the Shrine during October are blessed by the beauty of God’s creation embracing Our Lady’s holy Shrine. Pilgrims will travel the Meditation Trail among the changing leaves, pausing at the several outdoor devotional areas nestled among the trees. Upon reaching the summit of the half-mile path at the Shrine Church, witness the spectacular view of the country surrounding the Church. Following the Shrine Church, travel the outdoor Stations of the Cross and Rosary Walk in the fresh autumn air.
New Mass Guild
A pilgrimage during October also allows pilgrims to spend time in prayer with two saints who have Mass Guilds at the Shrine.
October 1 is the feast of Saint Thérèse of Lisieux, a saint whom the Shrine honors with a side altar as well. On her feast day, pilgrims may venerate her first-class relic.
October 12 is the feast of newly canonized Saint Carlo Acutis. The Shrine now has a new Mass Guild in which those enrolled are part of a sacred community devoted to an increase in devotion to the Eucharist. Consider enrolling yourself or a loved one in this new guild and get the chance to visit the Shrine over Saint Carlo’s feast day! On his feast day, pilgrims may venerate his first-class relic.
