Corpus Christi
What does Corpus Christi mean? The words “Corpus Christi” mean “Body of Christ” and are another name for the “Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ” celebrated on the Sunday after Trinity Sunday. This solemnity marks with particular emphasis the doctrine of Christ’s real presence—body, blood, soul, and divinity—in the Eucharist.

Feast of Saint Juan Diego
The Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe invites you to honor the humble messenger of Tepeyac, Saint Juan Diego Cuauhtlatoatzin, on his feast day. We are deeply honored to announce that His Eminence Raymond Leo Cardinal Burke will be the principal celebrant for a special Bilingual Holy Mass (English and Spanish) in the Shrine Church.
The Messenger of the “Morning Star”
Saint Juan Diego was a simple indigenous layman whose life was transformed on December 9, 1531. While walking to Mass, he was visited by the Blessed Virgin Mary on Tepeyac Hill. She called him her “dear little son” and entrusted him with a mission that would change the course of history for the Americas: to ask the Bishop to build a “little holy house” where she could show her love and protection to all her children.
Juan Diego’s witness is a powerful example of:
Humility: Despite describing himself as a “man of no importance,” his faithfulness made him the catalyst for the conversion of millions.
Obedience: He persevered through skepticism and personal trial, ultimately bringing the miraculous Castilian roses to the Bishop.
Devotion: After the miracle of the tilma, Juan Diego spent the rest of his life as a hermit near the first chapel, caring for the image and welcoming the first pilgrims.
